Introduction to the Workman Interactive Videoconferencing Project!

This web site is a tool for teachers at James Workman Middle School, to assist them in the technical aspects of videoconferencing and its implementation in the classroom. It is meant to be a use-friendly site to show teachers how to connect with professionals willing to provide IVC lectures or demonstrations, (museums, universities, professional development opportunities), and sites to locate other teachers interested in collaboration. A number of resources are provided for all subject areas.

Funds for equipment used in this project were provided by a grant from the Anderson Foundation.

What is videoconferencing and why should I care?

Videoconferencing, often called IVC (Interactive Videoconferencing) is a way of connecting two or more people through video and audio over, usually, an IP (Internet Protocol) connection.

Videoconferencing helps students meet today's rigous educational standards by bringing learning to life. Videoconferencing allows for the sharing of knowledge, ideas, and data regardless of distances involved.

This sounds exciting but where do I begin?

There are many opportunities to connect with experts in any curricular area. You don't have to do all the searching yourself. The links at your left will help you find the information and the experts you're looking for.
